Pumpkin Quilt

They're creepy and they're scary, they're silly and they're hairy, they are girly and they're swirly...they're our pumpkins for our quilt!

We know that pumpkin time is weeks away but we needed to decorate our pumpkins this week to create our classroom quilt! Every year, Mrs. Kanas' mother-in-law, Ms. Bernadette, makes a quilt with the class. She usually saves it for an end-of-the-year project, but this year she decided that she wanted to make a pumpkin quilt.

Ms. Bernadette came into our classroom and showed us how quilts are put together. She also brought some quilts she and Mrs. Kanas made. Mrs. Kanas read us a book called "The Keeping Quilt" by Patricia Polacco about a Russian immigrant family who passes a quilt down through generations.

Ms. Bernadette gave each of us a pumpkin quilt block she put together. We decorated our pumpkins and they all came out different and unique! Check back in October for pictures of our finished quilt...Ms. Bernadette has a lot of sewing to do!
