Camouflage Science Lab

In science this week, we learned about camouflage. We learned that camouflage is an adaptation that some animals use for survival. Animals use animals to hide from predators or to sneak up on their prey. Animals can use different types of camouflage that helps them blend into their environment using colors, patterns, or mimicry.

We conducted a science lab to see how camouflage affects predator's hunting. We sprinkled orange and black confetti on a black sheet of paper. First the students tried to pick up black spiders and then orange spiders. They closed their eyes and when Mrs. Kanas said "GO!" they picked up as many spiders as they could in 5 seconds. We found that students picked up more orange spiders because they were easier to see against the black background.
