Camouflage Science Lab

This week we learned about animal adaptations in 4th grade, including camouflage.  We conducted an experiment to see if camouflage is really effective when it comes to prey and predators.  Mrs. Kanas put a black piece of paper for our "habitat" on the desks.  Students worked in partners - one person was the predators and one person set up the habitat.  Black and orange confetti was sprinkled on the black paper.  The predator had five seconds to pick up as many black spiders and then orange spiders as possible.  It was confusing because there were many different types of confetti!  We found that it was much easier to pick up the orange spiders because they were so much easier to see.  Enjoy our slideshow!
