The 4th graders have been learning about area and perimeter. We learned how to find area and perimeter and practiced using the formulas to find each measurement. This week we worked on a perimeter puzzle. The students had to find all the different squares and rectangles that can be made with a 24 inch perimeter. Students used square inch tiles to help solve the problem. At first, students were guessing and checking, but it didn't take long to find a pattern! We found many different ways to make rectangles and squares that all had the same perimeter, but very different areas.
